Around Adelaide

From time to time, I will be going around with my camera, asking strangers if they would like photos.

I want to thank the individuals who participate. Without you, I wouldn’t be able do what I love.

Here is what we created together.

29.AUGUST.24

I saw this vibrant woman browsing racks and shelves for hidden treasures at a local Vinnies. While we took a few photos, she shared stories about her life. One being about a time when she danced at the Moulin Rouge and another was when she was once a model. Besides her unique fashion and welcoming aura, I knew it was meant to be when she shared her name was Valerie. Valerie was also the name of one of my grandmothers. Thanks for being up for another modeling gig, Val! Lucky to have been a small part in your grand story.

Meet Natasha and Mathew. They were out with their friend Laura, taking photos with their phones. I had no idea what they were posing for and once I asked if I could help, we felt something must have guided us. In September of 2014, their mother, Diane, passed away from ovarian cancer. The photos they were taking were for a fundraiser they created to raise awareness regarding ovarian cancer and in memory of their mother, Diane. Although I only met these 2 for a short period of time, their love, devotion and strength is something I will carry with me forever. Attached is a link to the fundraiser.

Meet, Kim. A local artist in Adelaide, showcasing his skills and encouraging fellow artists to be apart of the community at the Salisbury Art Society. I look forward to my first workshop!

29.JULY.24

July 29th marked my first official day that I gave the “Around Adelaide” project a shot. I knew it was meant to be when the first family I approached on the beach not only said yes, but specifically when the mother of the family told me her daughter was Hannah. As you can see, she is a free one.

These 3 declined the photos at first, then, to my absolute delight, they came around and created a little bit of magic with me.
